Let me be bold today and say to you that there’s no such thing as “comfortable Christianity”. In fact, what an oxymoron! If you want to just diddly-bop through life, go on your merry way, then Christianity is not for you.

And if that makes us squirm just a tad that’s a good thing, because Christianity wasn’t birthed in comfort but on that bloody, brutal cross of Calvary.

The early Christians were persecuted mercilessly for proclaiming that Jesus had risen. And indeed, more Christians have been martyred in the last century than in the previous nineteen combined.

If that wasn’t enough, the tide of persecution against Christians is rising right around the globe. No, comfort is the one thing that Christ hasn’t called us to because …

2 Corinthians 5:15 He died for all so that those who live would not continue to live for themselves. He died for them and was raised from death so that they would live for him.

So, question … do you feel “comfort” calling you, luring you into her soft, sweet arms? Don’t worry – me too. That’s how we’re programmed. But if you believe in this Jesus who died for you, know this: He died so you’d stop living for yourself.

Friend, He died and was raised from death so that you’d live your life for Him. That’s an incredibly uncomfortable truth, but He’s put you here to serve Him … whatever that may cost.

There are people in your life who need His love, poured out through your unique gifts and abilities and place in this world, to save them from a Christless eternity.

Make no mistake. There’s no such thing as comfortable Christianity.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
